Here you find "Arno's energy ideas" by Arno A. Evers, founder and long-time until 2006 organizer of the Group Exhibit "Hydrogen + Fuel Cells "at the annual HANNOVER FAIR in Germany since 1995. Until 2010, Evers and his team are worldwide active to speak, exhibit or participate in hydrogen and fuel cells congresses as ambassadors of the Group Exhibition, contracted by Deutsche Messe AG. All these activities are documented on the Internet and are updated regularly.

That 35 locomotives cannot fly is a globally accepted fact. A locomotive from the coal mining industry in Canada, for example, weighs 16 tons. Thirty-five of such locomotives creates a mass of 560 tons (560,000 kg). Amazingly, these 560 tons are equal to the maximum take-off weight of an Airbus A380, currently the world's largest passenger aircraft from the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. The company trades today as: "Airbus, an EADS Company." In the end, the 560 tons will in fact fly. It is "only" a question of molecular arrangement…

The 17th World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC) in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in June 2008 (the 18th WHEC, will be held 16 to 21 May 2010 in Essen, Germany) was a good opportunity, to do a littele research about hydrogen and fuel-cell activities "down under".

In these months, in summer 2008, the number of registerd mobile phones (in German also mistakenly nicknamed: "Haendies" ), exceed 3.3 billion, which means over half of the world`s population has now statistically a registered wireless mobile phone. Congratulations to all involved in this process! How could this so quickly, within about 25 years, happen? Especially if you consider, that in 2007 alone over 1.15 billion new units have been sold. And that a normal mobile phone in the mid-eighties in Germany was having the same value and the same price as a Porsche sports car at that time, namely around 12.000 euro (approx US Dollar 19.000) - which was then around 24.000 Deutschmarks.

The German federal government is having a hard time in summer 2008, to evaluate the difficult question, how to find workable compromises in the future taxation of motor vehicles. It will in future no longer be based on engine capacity, but on emissions of carbon dioxide, that means on consumption.

Parallel to this year's annual conference of the US National Hydrogen Association in early April, another event, held in Washington, DC, received in the German media little or no attention: The hearing of representatives of the five largest US-American oil companies - Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, BP, Chevron and ConocoPhilips before the “House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming" of the American Congress. In 2007 these five companies achieved a combined profit of US $ 123.3 billion, equivalent to 8.4% of their total turnover of nearly US $ 1,500 billion. At the time of the hearing the price of oil (light, sweet, crude) quoated US $ 100.98 per barrel.

Among the renewable energy sources, apart from water and wind power a variety of other renewable energies. are used in Germany in 2007. The usage of renewable energies has increased, compared to the previous year by over 15% to 31.4 million tons SKE. Their share in the primary energy consumption rose from 5.54% to 6,6 %. In the total consumption of renewable energies, the biomass in their Different manifestations was involved with three-quarters in 2007. Especially important was the use of biomass for electricity and heat supply, with a share of 17%. The proportion of wind energy amounted to 15.4%, that of hydropower around 8%.

We all know them; they seem so inconspicuous. There a many of them in every household of the "Western" world. Mostly, except for the imprint "Made in China", they carry nothing more than little green or red LED lamps which shine when network-connection is available. When in use, they get warm. They are black in most cases and have unattractive type designations such as: "Model ADP-90 AHP" with technical data such as: "Input: 100 - 240 V AC, 1.5 A, 50-60 Hz; Output: 19.5 V DC, 4.62 A". ...

In Germany, they usually are working on the state level, but there are also known as: "Alliances," "Initiatives ..." or "Joint Implementation Groups..." in other states, EU-funded and even internationally...

According to calculations by the Working Group Energy Balances (see link), based in Berlin, Germany, in 2006 the total consumption of primary energy in Germany in relation to 2005 grew by 2.5 percent to 497.8 Mio tce (Tonnes Coal Equivalents)...

Dass 35 Lokomotiven nicht fliegen können, ist eine weltweit anerkannte Tatsache. Eine Lokomotive aus dem Kohlebergbau in Kanada wiegt in unserem Beispiel 16 Tonnen, 35 solcher Lokomotiven ergeben eine Masse von 560 t (560 000 kg). Erstaunlicherweise entsprechen diese 560 t genau dem max. Abfluggewicht eines Airbus A380, dem derzeit weltweit größten Passagierflugzeug des europäischen Flugzeugherstellers Airbus. Das Unternehmen firmiert heute unter: "Airbus, an EADS Company". Also fliegen am Ende die 560t doch. Es ist eben alles "nur" ein Frage der Molekular−Anordnung.

In diesen Monaten wird die Anzahl der genutzten Mobiltelefone, (in Deutsch auch irrtümlicherweise "Händies" genannt), 3,3 Milliarden überschreiten, das heißt über die Hälfte der Weltbevölkerung verfügt jetzt statistisch über ein angemeldetes Händy. Herzlichen Glückwunsch dazu an alle Beteiligten. Wie konnte das so schnell, innerhalb von etwa 25 Jahren, passieren?

Unsere Bundesregierung tut sich derzeit unter anderem auch bei der Frage schwer, tragfähige Kompromisse bei der zukünftigen Besteuerung von Kraftfahrzeugen zu finden. Sie soll sich in Zukunft nicht mehr am Hubraum orientieren, sondern am Ausstoß von Kohlendioxid, also am Verbrauch.

Parallel zur diesjährigen Jahreskonferenz der US−National Hydrogen Association Anfang April dies Jahres, fand in Washington, DC, eine weitere Veranstaltung statt, die in den deutschen Medien kaum oder keine Beachtung fand: die Anhörung von Vertretern der fünf größten amerikanischen Ölgesellschaften − ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch Shell, BP, Chevron und ConocoPhilips vor dem "House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming" des amerikanischen Kongresses.

"Erneuerbare Energien" heißt es laut Arbeitsgemeinschaft Energiebilanzen am Ende der 30−seitigen Studie unter anderem: "...Zu den erneuerbaren Energieträgern zählt neben Wasser− und Windkraft eine Vielfalt weiterer erneuerbaren Energien." [...] "Der Verbrauch aller erneuerbaren Energieträger nahm im Jahr 2007 gegenüber dem Vorjahr um gut 15 Prozent auf 31,4 Mio. t. SKE zu, wobei sich deren Anteil am Primärenergieverbrauch von 5,54 Proeznt im Jahr 2006 auf 6,6 Prozent im Jahr 2007 erhöht hat.

Zurzeit appellieren deutsche Politiker an die Verbraucher, keine Handys eines bestimmten Herstellers (Nokia) zu kaufen. Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit appellierten fast die gleichen Politiker, Handys eines bestimmten anderen Herstellers (BenQ Mobile) bitte zu kaufen. Wie sinnvoll sind derartige Aufrufe?
